Millisecond

I looked up and saw a shooting star,
immediately gone.

In its dying wake was left
a trail of ash and dust,
falling

through

the winter sky
towards the sleeping crust

of earth.
An alien birth,

a billion years of travelling,
extraterrestrial proof,
sprinkled somewhat randomly
on a suburban roof.
